Our trip to Ghana September 21- September 25 2017
We went to Ghana for a few days to visit our daughter Robin who is currently working at the Holy Family Hospital In Techiman. We had arranged for a car with driver during our trip. Eric picked us up from the airport and took us to our hostel. The next day it was raining profoundly. Fortunately, despite the bad weather,Eric was perfectly on time to pick us up. Our journey from Accra to Techiman was very pleasant. Eric is a very good driver. He drives responsibly, we noticed that he only passes other cars when there is plenty of room to overtake safely. We were very pleased about this because we saw many drivers on the way that were quite irresponsible. Eric was also an excellent tour guide. He told us a lot about Ghana, explained everything we saw during our road trip to Techiman, from bushmeat to exotic coffins we saw along the road. He also explained a lot about the culture of his country. When it was time for lunch he found a very nice restaurant. Upon our request Eric joined us and advised us what to eat. We had a delicious typical Ganaian meal: Jolof with chicken. On Saturday we had time to take a trip to Boabeng-Fiema Monkey Sanctuary and to the Kintampo Waterfalls. Eric knew the way, so when the Kintampo Waterfalls were closed due to renovation he took us to other waterfalls nearby and they were great. Although we felt very safe in Ghana, people are very friendly and welcoming it was still very nice to have Eric with us, he is fluent in English and speaks the native languages of Ghana (Twi and Ga) so we felt that traveling with Eric was actually having a driver/tour guide/ translator/ body guard all for the price of one. Eric is trustworthy, responsible and has a very pleasant personality and we would recommend him to anyone who is planning to make a trip to Ghana.
